Areca Palm Large
Areca palm is clump-growing with ringed, yellow leaf-ribs. Once an endangered species, the Areca Palm is a staple in Indian spaces. One of the most undervalued plants in the indoor plant category. This excellent air purifier is pet friendly and easy to grow. Its delicate leaves/fronds grow outwards in a curved manner and add a tropical feel to any space and can adapt to a variety of growing conditions.
Plant care tips:
Sunlight: Full to partial Bright indirect sunlight
Watering: usually twice a week. Water thoroughly in the summer and reduce watering for the winter & rainy season. Try misting the plant regularly to increase the ambient humidity.
Soil: Rich, humus and well-drained soil

Repotting: The Areca Palm does not need to be repotted often. Repot your plant every 2 – 3 years to refresh the soil as it prefers tight root bound soil system in small pots.
Propagation: Areca Palm can be propagated using seeds. You can also propagate Areca Palm by cutting an offshoot with root nodes from the main plant and planting it in a good soil mix.
Plant problems & protection:
- Water your plant regularly whenever the topsoil dries out. Ensure that the soil is moist at all times but not soggy. The leaves/fronds of Areca Palm yellow due to irregular watering and a parched plant.
- Wilting leaves of the areca palm are a clear indication of under watering. Water it promptly to avoid leaf shrivelling.
- Browning tips of Areca Palm leaves is caused by over-watering, insufficient light, or low humidity. If over-watering seems to be the issue, water it less frequently and only when the topsoil dries out.
- They are sensitive to chemicals and will be damaged if you expose them to aerosol sprays.
- If you need to treat them with insecticides, be sure what you use is suitable for a palm.
