Golden Dyfun

Golden Dyfun or Golden Dieffenbachia plant is of the easiest indoor houseplants to grow and one of the most common indoor plants. Golden Dyfun or Golden Dieffenbachia plant adds fun colour and texture without flowers. This tropical shrub shows off lush leaves that are usually marked in shades of cream, yellow, or white, making this plant a top pick for brightening dim corners indoors. This plant prefers bright light but can tolerate low light spaces as well. From a sunny room to a low lit office, the dieffenbachia can grow in any space.

Plant care tips:

  • Sunlight: they can grow best in bright, filtered light during the majority of the year (spring, summer and fall) and tolerate full direct sun during winter.
  • Watering: Watering is pretty straightforward with dieffenbachias: keep it consistent and don’t overdo it. Always make sure the soil is dry a few inches down before watering. Dieffenbachias don’t like soggy soil.
  • Soil: The soil should be well drained and fertile for growing dieffenbachia plant
  • Maintenance: low maintenance
  • Special feature: easy to care for style and resilience to neglect
  • Repotting: every 2 or 3 years and preferably in spring, repot your dieffenbachia in a pot of a slightly larger size. The roots hate excess water.
  • Propagation: The easiest way to propagate your dieffenbachia is by rooting cuttings, either tip cuttings or stem cuttings. Plant these small pieces of greenery in the right medium and they will produce roots and, eventually, an entirely new plant.

Plant protection & care:

  1. Overwatering or under watering your plant can turn the leaves yellow. Often, they will also fall off the plant. Check the soil by sticking a finger into the soil up to the first knuckle.
  2. Dieffenbachia prefers partial shade. If your plant droops, it may mean it’s getting too much sunlight. Move the plant to a spot with indirect sunlight.
  3. Leaves could also turn yellow because the plant is lacking nutrients, such as nitrogen. Though this can be tough to diagnose, it won’t hurt to use a plant fertiliser to see if will bring your plant back to health.
